Black Bean Gorditas

We eat black beans about once a week in my house. I make a large pot once every three weeks or so and freeze jars of black beans so they are always available for a no-prep, ridiculously inexpensive and super healthy meal. I make my beans with garlic, chile peppers and onions that are roasted in oil in a hot oven first and then blended into the beans as they cook. I add ancho chile powder, cumin, and kosher salt. I try to jazz up the way we eat the beans. Sometimes it's with brown rice, other times it may be with eggs and tortillas or even black bean soup (adding chicken stock and blending it all together). But I may have some beans left that aren't enough for another complete meal. These gorditas are a wonderful way to use those beans (or left-over shredded chicken or beef). Making the gordita dough is easy and can be made up to two days before using. Just be sure to keep a moistened towel on top of the dough and wrap it well with plastic wrap. Once you get the basics down of making the gorditas, you can change up the fillings - including things like seasoned cilantro, cabbage and pickled onions. Salty cheese is a must - like cotija or queso fresco.

This dish was so good. I am not a big fan of beans but in this dish they we really good. All of the ingredients together was so good. I would make this again for my family in the future.

Last weeks dish was so much fun to make. I loved working with the blender too. Even though I wasn't able to try them, they looked so delicious and I would definitely make these again so I can try them.

The bean gorditas was great because it has a little spice to it because of the beans. It was nice and soft and still warm. Overall it was it was great.

This was a hard dish too cook but it was really fun. My teammates were very helpful as always. It was a tasty dish i just wished we would of cook the Masa better.

This dish was super delicious and was so much fun to make! I wasn't the biggest fan of the beans, I still loved it! I'm so happy that I got to help my teammates with this! I would definitely eat these at home!

I really enjoyed the Gordita's because of the bean paste. It was hard to cook, since the masa was crumbling a ton, and the dough was really soft and sticky. Overall, I thought the ending result was worth it since my kitchen replicated it perfectly.

The Black Bean Gorditas were very delicious. I was sweet and not to spicy and the tortilla had a nice crunch to it, I had a really great time making it with my kitchen it was a very good experience and i will make this dish again because it was absolutely amazing.

I was really shocked by the Black Bean Gorditas. I did not really care for the black beans but the dough was good and had a nice texture. The cheese added a nice touch to the beans. I would try to make this again at home but not use the black beans. This was a really fun dish to make.

This is the best side dish you can make for a party. This was so delicious. My favorite part was the beans. They were full of flavor. The tortillas was the most fun part. I would totally make this dish again.

The gorditas were great the filling was magnificent with some cheese on top of the filling. I think cutting the gorditas in half was the hardest part because you din't want it to cut all the way or maybe even brake. Other wise it was a great experience.

Making this dish was so fun it was also Delicious. I enjoyed making the masa and flipping it on the pan. I like all the flavors in the dish. The cheese made a good fresh taste to the dish.

The bean Gorditas were AMAZING!!!!
Are kitchen just needed a bit more salt to are beans, but besides that this was an amazing dish. I would say to add some spices to it to give it a better taste to it. This dish was great.

I loved the inside of the gorditas because I love beans, but the outside was weird. When we cooked it we made it so crispy, but when we bit into the inside it still was not cooked. Overall, I do not see myself making this again.
