Culinary Arts Highlights for Parents:
  • Please hang the attached semester schedule in a visible place and respect the dates your child signed up for. *Talk to me ASAP if this is a problem, please. Our students are able to cook often as long as everyone pitches in with food and materials needed weekly. For produce, I find Vallarta and Sprout’s to have the best prices. For bread, dairy and cheese, sausage/hot dogs and packaged/canned foods, I find Trader Joe’s to have the best prices.
  • Keep track of what’s taking place in Luther’s kitchen by visiting www.myclasscancook.com. There you can download recipes and see videos of what we are/have made in catering and culinary arts classes.
  • Students are required (10-point weekly assignment) to post a comment about the foods they cook each week. Comments must be appropriate and related to the food they are talking about. It is possible to track the origin of comments posted so be warned that if inappropriate comments are posted there will be severe consequences for all parties involved.
  • On my website there is a page titled “This Week in The Kitchen” where students can post weekly comments. They need to put their first name and last initial only AND period number to receive full credit. Additionally, comments must be in totally complete sentences free of grammar and spelling errors. Comments are due by Tuesday morning for the week prior. Late comments will not be accepted for credit of any kind. *If internet is an issue at your home, students can post comments on my computer in the kitchen.
  • We will be having our first ever Dinner with Friends in December. Students and family members will be able to purchase tickets to this deliciously catered event. A separate invitation will go out in November.
  • Thank you for helping make this program a success!
  • Please contact me with any questions. Email is best. [email protected]

I had a lot of fun making this dish and with my group. It did not only taste good but looked even better. This is my first time making potato salad without mayo and I like it much better! I will definitely make it again!!
